LIS 6271 Research Methods in Library and Information Science (core)
This collaborative research proposal is a culmination of our work on library virtual instruction, which was written individually by each team member after group consultations. The proposal is innovative and was one of the first mock research proposals to request funding for measuring the effectiveness of virtual library instruction services in academic libraries post-COVID-19. Our group created this proposal to study the ethical concerns regarding whether students were effectively learning from virtual library instruction. The final document demonstrates our ability to communicate, collaborate, critically evaluate, problem-solve, and reflect as a group on current issues in library science.
I.b. Students demonstrate effective communication skills.
LIS 5937 Rare Books and Special Collections (elective)
This virtual exhibit, created in the Fall 2023 semester, demonstrates my ability to effectively create an online special collections exhibit. It contains all of Justice Ginsburg’s library at the time of her death and highlights the significance of these works in the context of Justice Ginsburg’s life. The goal of creating this virtual exhibit was to communicate to an online audience the significance of this special collection, showcasing the library’s unique pieces, and to market the collection to potential researchers.
I.c. Students participate in professional and community engagement activities in the field.

LIS 6472 Seminar in Special Libraries required attendance at a professional and community engagement webinar for special libraries. I chose to attend a lecture presented by a staff member from the Law Library of Congress (LLOC), which was hosted by USF’s Student Organization of Library and Information Science (SOLIS). The lecturer highlighted the LLOC’s digital projects and new technological advancements. Through this presentation, I learned about and applied to the LLOC and was chosen for their internship program. While interning with the Creative Digital Projects Internship, I wrote an article and created inclusive library metadata and linking for the LLOC.
I.d. Students demonstrate leadership skills and innovation in a diverse and global environment.
LIS 6409 Introduction to Library Administration (core)
This project proposal, which was compiled in the Fall of 2023, is written from the position of a public university library director. The goal of the proposal is to persuade university administrators of the need for an archival de-lamination project. The proposal outlines the need for such a project citing health risks, the withdraw of university donations due to the collection’s neglect, and the destruction of the laminated documents.
